FAQs

  • What are you asking me to do?
We are asking that you pray and seek God’s direction for how He is asking you to grow in giving and generosity as a follower of Christ in this season. Prepare your heart to hear Him and then listen to what He says. In obedience, take your next step. Engage in personal reflection with God in this journey guide. Talk with your spouse, your family, or others about what this commitment will mean for this season of your life. We are asking that you make a sacrificial commitment to Gospel-centered generosity—whatever it is that God leads you to do. Follow His leading. We want you to prepare to be amazed! We serve a LIMITLESS God, and He is going to move in huge ways that we can’t imagine right now. We anticipate an unprecedented impact from our collective LIMITLESS commitments—something only God can do. Please mark your calendar for Commitment Sunday, February 23rd, and prepare to experience a life-changing worship service that will forever be remembered as a defining moment for our church family.
  • How is LIMITLESS different from previous generosity initiatives?
We pray that each man, woman, and child at FBC sees their giving as an integral part of this discipleship journey and is challenged by God to take a next step. The bulk of this journey guide is focused on helping us dig into some key Biblical principles that guide us in this area as we follow Jesus. This is our first priority—100% engagement in the process. Even if someone wrote us a check today for our secondary goal of $10.5M, we would still need this initiative! Whether embarking on a giving journey or continuing as committed givers, we all have a next step to take and room to grow in this area.
  • How does $10.5M over two years compare to current giving at FBC Elkhart?
Our current annual giving is approximately $3M, which, multiplied by two years, is $6M. So, in essence, we’re believing God to increase our resources by $4.5M over two years for a total of $10.5M.
  • When will we break ground? How long will it take for the building expansion to be completed?
It is important that we break ground only with knowledge of the amount of funds committed over the next two years, which will dictate some of the architectural details, the scope of the project, and the building schedule. For this reason, we will wait to break ground until those commitments have been given. We hope to begin construction in the second half of 2025, with completion targeted for mid-2026.
  • How will my giving during the LIMITLESS initiative affect my current giving setup?
There are multiple ways to fulfill your commitment during the initiative. Some regular givers may choose to adjust the amount of their recurring online gifts over the two-year period to arrive at the total they have chosen to contribute. Some may keep their current giving arrangements and simply donate additional funds with a one-time cash, check, or online gift. Since all giving will be directed to one fund, there's no need to plan to designate certain amounts to separate areas of ministry.
  • Can I contribute toward LIMITLESS through avenues besides cash or online giving?
Be creative as you explore ways you and your family can give toward LIMITLESS. You might have some stocks, property, or other items of that nature. Or, you may have stored resources that God has blessed you with in the past that He just might be calling you to give during this time. Please let us know if you need assistance with facilitating gifts of property or stock, and we would be happy to help you. Just reach out to limitless@fbcelkhart.org.
  • What if I have never even given to FBC before?
LIMITLESS was crafted specifically with you in mind. LIMITLESS is a “one fund” generosity initiative. It’s different from a traditional capital campaign, where you are called to give an extra gift above and beyond your normal giving, thus creating two steps for people who aren’t yet giving. LIMITLESS is a call to sacrificial, Gospel-centered generosity for everyone at FBC. If you have never given before, this is your opportunity to say “Yes” to the Lord and experience His blessing and design for generosity.
  • How long is my commitment?
We are asking that everyone make a two-year (24-month) commitment. The giving period for your commitment will begin with “Big Give Sunday” on March 9th, 2025, and it will culminate in March of 2027.
  • What if I am new around here?
LIMITLESS is about the vision for our church and our personal discipleship in giving as followers of Jesus. We believe that the local church is one of the most compelling missions to give toward. If you choose to plant roots and make FBC your home church, we invite you to join us in LIMITLESS when you are ready.
  • What if I don’t have a job right now, or my finances are extremely limited? What does that mean for my LIMITLESS commitment?
LIMITLESS is about your total, radical, sacrificial generosity to God’s mission in and through FBC. We believe that God calls us to action in times of hardship just as much as He does in times of abundance, and that looks different for every person (2 Corinthians 8:1-5). LIMITLESS is about a heart change—one that is only accomplished by surrendering our lives completely over to God in this area of giving and declaring that we are a people who are unfinished. That may mean that you are being challenged to sell things, pick up odd jobs, or trust God in faith to provide for the commitment He is calling you to make. If you are struggling to order your finances or would like help creatively exploring what it could look like to give toward LIMITLESS even during a financially tight season, FBC would love to come alongside and help in this area. You can email limitless@fbcelkhart.org.
  • What if I am in debt right now? Am I still supposed to give?
If you are someone currently paying off debt, we commend you for making progress on that. And you should continue to do so! We would be happy to help you on this journey and/or to recommend a budgeting class that might minister to you. Being in debt does not, however, “excuse” someone from being obedient in giving as a follower of Christ. Please reach out to limitless@fbcelkhart.org if you need assistance with this or if you would like to speak with a budgeting counselor. We would be honored to help you!
